Bike fitting for Austria’s cycling champs

Bike fitting in preparation for the Race Around Lower Austria 2022

We had the pleasure of welcoming three Race Around Lower Austria starters for a bike fitting session to support them in their preparation and, of course, in the competition. It was an interesting day with a lot of exchange of experiences and exciting results.

The bike fittings were carried out in October 2021 in order to be able to train the movement sequence in the new positions on the bike sufficiently. This allows the riders to get used to the new circumstances and work on their bad posture.

Lukas Stang brought his Ridley Noah road bike to us and it became clear right from the start that the saddle was far too high. The position and angle of the saddle were also adjusted to take pressure off the perineal area. We then looked at the cockpit position to prevent tension in the upper body.

Leonhard Kern came to us for a bike fitting with both his Bianchi Aria Disc, as a competition bike, and his Focus Paralane AL. First, we adjusted his Bianchi to suit his flexibility and reduced the upper body movement by lowering the saddle height. The saddle adjustment also greatly reduced the saddle pressure, in addition to the more stable position of the upper body. The “Focus” serves as a bike for the winter season, as he wants to improve his technique in the near future and give his body the opportunity to recover after the season. That’s why we tended to base the Focus on the seating position of the Bianchi, but with the body more upright.

Wolfram brought his Vortec VRC to us and after his previous injury, the focus was on ensuring that the riding position offered stability so that the knee joints did not have to endure any additional stress and he could concentrate on healthy training. In addition to the saddle pressure, the pressure measurement in the shoes was also used to obtain further information about his pedaling cycle.

At the end, in addition to the measurement results, all riders received stretching and stability exercises so that they can work more on their flexibility during the winter season in order to start the competition season in a stable and stronger position.
